16-11 BAAL+
Baal (2011) by Chiel Meijering based on the first play (1918) by Bertolt Brecht: the poet who opposes conventions in a search for liquor and women. Besides Baal you will also hear the last piece (2010) by Willem Breuker, and more!
Composition Baal by Chiel Meijering is based on the first play by Bertolt Brecht (from 1918) that tells the story of a young poet who opposes the conventions of the bourgeoisie. In his search for liquor and women, he leaves behind a trail of destruction.
Willem Breuker composed his last piece "De Verdubbelaar" before he died in 2010 especially fororkest de ereprijs. Breuker was one of the key figures of Dutch improvisation and a leading composer. His impetuous and unpredictable De Verdubbelaar exceeds all gene restraints.
Bernard Hunnekink astrombonist in the former Willem Breuker Kollektief and wrote for orkest de ereprijs the new work Over Toeters en Blazers (2018) with strong influences of jazz.
Guus Janssen, the fourth Dutch composer from this series, presents new work during this concert.
