19 February 2022 | Andriessen Festival | Musis Arnhem

An ode to Louis Andriessen
In honor of Louis Andriessen, Phion, Orkest De Ereprijs, ArtEZ and Musis Arnhem are joining forces. On Saturday 19 February, the fourth edition of the Andriessen Festival will take place in Musis Arnhem.

Phion and Orkest De Ereprijs join forces as RKST21 to discover the future of classical music. During this edition, RKST21 will play works by upcoming composers and veterans of contemporary music: challenging, unexpected, but above all very recognizable. RKST21 pays tribute to the Dutch greatness and musical predecessor Louis Andriessen.

Composers of today
It couldn't be more contemporary and topical: Christiaan Richter wrote new work especially for RKST21: muTaTum is a piano concerto that refers to the legendary and fabulously virtuoso blind jazz pianist Art Tatum (1909-1956). This new composition will premiere during the festival. In order to be able to perform muTaTum, we will collaborate with none other than Ermis Theodorakis.

Festival program
In addition to RKST21, various other ensembles will perform works by Louis Andriessen and his students. The full festival program will be announced at a later date.
