1 July | PocketLAB | ACEC, Apeldoorn

Artist duo Ruud Roelofsen, composer, and Marlies Bosmans, writer/player/director, go on a weeklong investigation and present their findings together with Orkest de Ereprijs on Friday evening, July 1, in the musical theater piece 'All the darkness looks alive...'.

Do you ever fall out of sleep too? Do you know the feeling, right after you startle awake that you are taking that infinitely deep fall? What happens to you when you sleep and dream, but have no control over how that dream goes? Why do you sometimes end up in aromantic rendezvous and then again in a nightmare? In the performance-presentation we play with what lies between consciousness and subconsciousness and we use image, text, music and sound. An unusual experience: titillating, dreamlike, horrifying, paralyzing.

Ruud Roelofsen
Ruud Roelofsen Mmus (Rhenen, 1985) studied percussion at the conservatories of Arnhem, Münster and Brussels. He is currently pursuing a PhD in composition and music technology at Northwestern University Bienen School of Music (Evanston, USA). His music is played by soloists and ensembles at home and abroad. As a composer, his recent interests include composing with concrete sounds, sounds of the body and ASMR.

Marlies Bosmans
Marlies Bosmans (Flanders, 1992) is a director and theater maker, graduated from the Amsterdamse Toneelschool & Kleinkunstacademie. As a young maker she is attached to KASKO, house for music theater, where she is following a multi-year talent development program.
