Apply now for the 29th Young Composers Meeting 2023 (February 26 - March 3) Apeldoorn, The Netherlands
Young Composers Meeting is an intiative by orkest de Ereprijs to give young professional composers a chance to compose for an ensemble and develop their talents, knowledge and professional network.
On Thursday July 1, Louis Andriessen, one of the most influential Dutch composers, passed away at the age of 82. He had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for some time.
Our deepest condolences go out to his wife, family and friends.
We are proud to share that Fonds Podiumkunsten has honored two applications for composition commissions from Orkest De Ereprijs! New works by Oğuz Büyükberber and Ned McGowan will premiere in the autumn of 2021.
During the annual Young Composers Meeting we give young professional composers a chance to compose for an ensemble and develop their talents, knowledge and professional network. The week is filled with rehearsals, lectures and individual coaching by senior composers. We would like to share with you which composers will accompany the young composers during the 29th Young Composers Meeting in 2023. Richard Ayres and Martijn Padding are once again part of the team, along with three new composers that will join the team: Wilbert Bulsink, Calliope Tsoupaki and Anna Veismane.
We would like to introduce all composers to you one by one.
From 1 October Merlijn Runia will dive into the enormous repertoire of De Ereprijs. What is she going to do with that? Experiment, research and play, together with the orchestra and designer Juliette Mout. Everything is allowed and possible!
New video: 'Thin Air' by 'Componist des Vaderlands' Calliope Tsoupaki. 'Thin Air' has now been performed more than 45 times all over the world as part of Festivals for Compassion.
As an encouragement, the following participants of the
28th Young Composers Meeting are awarded a financial scholarship for writing a new composition:
On September 10, 2021, Nieuw Geneco presented the second Fair Practice Award Composition Commission to two winners: Orkest De Ereprijs and patron Marcia (Zembla Music / Support the Composer). Both have been awarded for their unbridled commitment to fair remuneration for composers and for their contribution to sustainability in new music: they ensure that new work remains in the spotlight even after its premiere.
In February we recorded the new composition 'Upstream' by Lise Morrison. She wrote this new work for the first concert 'Ear for each other' in the concert series 'Aardlek: urgent matters'. Unfortunately, this concert could not continue due to the lockdown, but we are now proud to present the online premiere with video by Okke van Breemen.
