An Ode to Hanzesteden
Imagine this: the docks are lined with ships, trade is flourishing, and the city is buzzing with energy. But the Hanseatic era was more than that; it was an explosion of art and culture. And now, four Hanseatic cities are once again finding their own musical voice, expressed through new compositions that bring to life the character, story, and soul of these cities.
Themes such as connection, water, prosperity, trade, and city life run through the Hanseatic Cities Tour. Four composers—Alison Isadora, Reza Namavar, Silvia Borzelli, and Asim Singh Halwarvi—have translated these centuries-old Hanseatic themes into new, contemporary compositions.
In addition, writer and storyteller Bas Steman takes the audience on a journey through the history of the Hanseatic cities. Through spoken word, he weaves stories of their origins, heyday, transformation, and present-day reality into the music, bringing past and present together in a multi-layered musical journey.
Let yourself be carried away by the waters, stories, and sounds of the Hanseatic League. During the Hanseatic Cities Tour, music, history, and imagination come together. Experience the concerts on June 27, July 4, July 5, and October 4, 2026, in Elburg, Heino, Deventer, and Zutphen.
