Sjoerd Pauw - Trumpet
Sjoerd Pauw has been playing the trumpet with de ereprijs since 2007. He studied in Arnhem with Tonnie Kievits, first trumpetter at the Gelders Orchestra. Sjoerd is a permanent member of brass quintet KWIVR, which is part of Muziekvoorstelling.nl. This quintet specialises in the creation of youth theatre. The last few years, they have played several performances; ‘Lichterlaaie’ is for children from eight years old, about the novice ‘Bakzeun’(played by Sjoerd), who needs to make sure the barracks don’t catch fire; in the show ‘Praten met je oren dicht’, the quintet uses bizarre, funny poems by Edward van der Vendel. ‘Wat niemand weet’ is based on the novel by Tonke Dragt and has been running for almost ten years.Besides the modern trumpet, Sjoerd also plays the baroque version in solo parts within the grand choir works, such as Georg Friedrich Händel’s Messiah and the Hohe Messe by Johann Sebastian Bach. He frequently koins the Gelders Orchestra and the Orkest van het Oosten. He has played in various projects by Merlijn Twaalfhoven. Through Kunstwerk Het Musiater for ‘more music in class’, he teaches music to primary school children. This is a project supported by Queen Maxima.
