24 February 2019 | Opening concert YCM / RKST21 | Coda, Apeldoorn

The Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra and orkest de ereprijs join forces as RKST21 to discover the future of classical music.

During this edition RKST21, directed by Etienne Siebens, will play works by upcoming composers and veterans of contemporary music: challenging, unexpected, but above all also very recognizable.

Music of today and the future. Classical music but then in a different way: we hear elements from pop, folk and jazz. RKST21 brings an ode to the Dutch greatness and musical predecessor Louis Andriessen. We hear Dances (1991) that he wrote at the time for the choreographer Bianca van Dillen with a leading role for the soprano Caroline Cartens.

It can not be more contemporary and up-to-date: Trevor Grahl wrote a new work especially for this ensemble. Student from Louis Andriessen and renowned composers Martijn Padding is represented both in this program and in the Young Composers Meeting as one of the heads of the senior composers.

Program
Trevor Grahl – Κάποτε (2017) (soprano: Caroline Cartens)
Martijn Padding - Three Reflections on Previous Thoughts  (soprano: Caroline Cartens)
Louis Andriessen – Dances (2011) (soprano: Caroline Cartens)

24 February 2019
Time: 16.00 h.
Location: Coda, Apeldoorn
Free entrance
