Call for young composers YCM 2027

Young Composers Meeting is an iniative by Orkest De Ereprijs to give young professional composers under 30 a chance to compose for an ensemble and develop their talents, knowledge and professional network.

I had a wonderful week at the Young Composers Meeting, spending time with people full of passion and cool ideas.

During this week in Apeldoorn (February 21st- February 26th), 13 selected participants will come together. In preparation for the Meeting they will each write a three-minute piece for the orchestra, possibly extended with voices from Royal Conservatoire The Hague, coached by Georgi Sztojanov. The week consists of rehearsals of these compositions, readings and individual lessons from our senior composers. The closing concert, directed by Edo Frenkel, will take place at Podium GIGANT, featuring all the pieces. Afterwards, a jury of prominent composers will decide which four talented participants will win the composition commissions.

Commissions:

- Frank van der Wal Fonds commission: a new work for Orkest De Ereprijs, to be performed during their many concerts. Fee: € 2.500,-

- Orkest De Ereprijs commission: a new work for Orkest De Ereprijs, to be performed during their many concerts. Fee: € 2.500,-

- Ereprijs Xtra commission: a new work for Ereprijs Xtra (in collaboration with PHION), to be performed during the Andriessen Festival 2026. Fee: € 1.500,-

- Apeldoorn commission: a new work for Orkest De Ereprijs. Fee: € 1.500,-

The 33rd edition will take place from February 21st- 26th 2027. You can apply from June 1st 2026 - September 14th 2026.

The participant fee is 595 euros. This includes accommodation, three meals a day, rehearsals with the orchestra, lessons with seniors, a museum trip and, of course, admission to the final concert!

  • A CV and/or a biography
  • A completely filled out application form
  • 1-3 scores of recent works
  • Their respective audios (no video please!)
