The orchestra
Orkest De Ereprijs is the living instrument for today's music.
Orkest De Ereprijs
For 45 years, Orkest De Ereprijs has been the living instrument for today's music. As an orchestra for composed contemporary music, we commission composers to write pieces exclusively for us. Our permanent fourteen-piece ensemble is both agile and challenging, and our performances always inspire and surprise. With this approach, which is reflected in our collaborations and initiatives in the fields of education, talent development, and multidisciplinary projects, Orkest De Ereprijs has earned its own place in the world of today's music.
The orchestra has a permanent line-up consisting of two flutes, clarinet/bass clarinet, two saxophones, trumpet, two trombones, horn, tuba, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, and percussion (classical, modern, drums). This allows the orchestra to meet the often specific wishes of contemporary composers. The commissions and concerts are multidisciplinary, with a wide choice of singers, instrumentalists, electronic artists, dancers, theater makers, and filmmakers. Orkest De Ereprijs has now written and performed more than 400 commissioned compositions.
Orkest De Ereprijs collaborates with, among others: ArtEZ dance academy Arnhem, Phion, NJON Apeldoorn, secondary schools in Gelderland/Utrecht/Overijssel/North Rhine-Westphalia, Gigant Apeldoorn, Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem, Royal Conservatoire The Hague, ArtEZ Composition program Zwolle and Arnhem, and ArtEZ Music Teacher Zwolle.
Aspasia Nasopoulou
Since 2021, Aspasia Nasopoulou has been responsible for artistic direction.
Nasopoulou is a composer, pianist, educator, and curator, trained in Athens and Amsterdam. In her vision, entering into collaborations, both new and old, is the spark in the creative process. As a curator and composer, she looks beyond boundaries in this way. For Orkest De Ereprijs, this means continuing the work in diverse directions, always with the latest music as the starting point.
